Apparently we all need 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. But lets face it, we also need to love the food we eat and sometimes we need a bit of procrasti-baking to help us through. That's why this recipe helps satisfy all of the above. Roll on the Peanut butter protein ball recipe. As a gymnastics coach, dancer, and keen yogi, I'd like to think I lead a pretty active lifestyle, and so I'm enjoying the current 'protein' trend that is taking over, but protein bars are expensive and quite often, let's face it, filled with a load of unpronounceable ingredients. ....Alongside this I'd like to point out I'm not really a 'follow the recipe' kinda gal, so here is sort of kind of what you'd need to make these but allow yourself to evolve the recipe as you please and wing it whatever whey (pun intended) you feel necessary. My experience
So I've made these protein balls 3 times now. Each time has been quite different. My first batch were more dry, less doughy and less satisfying. The 2nd time I upped the fig ratio and added more peanut butter and protein powder. This was a good move as it made for a more truffly/ bite. The third time I went a little OTT with the figs and although it was still delicious, it was a softer and less peanut-buttery experience, but the addition of cocoa powder made for a yummy choccy taste! So mess around with the recipe until you reach your golden ratio blend of balls of total textural taste you enjoy most to dig your teeth into.
