anx·i·e·ty aNGˈzīədē/ noun A feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. Sound familiar? Unfortunately anxiety is all too familiar for many people, and can often result in a less than perfect set of half chewed nails, tearing hair out or even just a rather hopeless shaking blob of human on the floor. Now I'm no psychiatrist, nor am I anxiety free (understatement of the year) . But here are a few tactics I've found that can hopefully help keep those nails looking lush and that head full of hair! 1.YogaNow I'm not going to trying to convert you into a Buddhist Monk or a vegan-eating-barefooted-yogi, but I can honestly say that the mind clearing effects of some simple breathing and stretching can work WONDERS. So maybe joining your local yoga classes could be a plan? Or for more instant results, grab your laptop, search through Youtube and get downward dogging until you're not down anymore. 2. Green TeaYou can read endless health benefits of green tea wherever you look. Loose leafed, tea bagged, or my personal favourite- Jasmine, it doesn't matter what type, just grab your mug and let it give you a bit warm and cleansing hug! 3.Walk it outWhether it's though an autumnal boulevard of trees or just around the neighbourhood, even the most modest of mindful strolls, breathing in the fresh air can really clear your mind. You could even take your four legged companion with you provided there is one you have access to (unless like me and have rabid woofers who would actually increase your anxiety levels with their lack of 'calming walk etiquette'). 4.Talk to a friendFriend, family, dog, or anyone who can talk some sense into your current fluster. Even if you don't talk about your worries directly, sometimes just general life chat brings you back down to earth (or whatever planet you unsually inhabit). Sometimes even just being around another creature is enough to counter any cortisol. 5. Get organisedSeriously, nothing is THAT bad. Write out your thoughts then get a list sorted so all that stuff in your head is extracted and exacted into achievable logistics. 6. Get socialLet's face it, as annoying as people are, we all love and need company. So be proactive, send that text, make those plans and just get yourself up and out and enjoying all the social human being activities the world has to offer! 7. Get inspired!By people, plans, the future. Anything or anyone that can demist those anxious clouds and put clear skies and stars in your eyes. 8. DANCERELEASE YOU INHIBITIONS! So next time you feel like slipping on your anxious pants, just take a second to consider these anxiety busting steps and you might just save yourself a few pennies on a manicure!
